Chicago. It's all!!!

My travel around Chicago begins well. I was with my best friends from Brazil (Fernanda) and America (Mark). For me travel is a good motivation to live. It is one way to know new people, to know differents beauty styles and, mainly, to know the diversity around the world. Travel for me is experience what the human civilization has better, their differences.

We came in Chicago for five days that would be delicious and unforgettable! I and my dear friends found a artist and beautiful place to visit, our place in this world. We had a crazy time together (crazy in the Brazilian meaning – to do everything that we could and couldn’t do together). Certainly, if I call here what we did in Chicago most of my audience would be scared. For that reason, my audience, I will be softer in my first post, but don’t expect it now ahead from me. I am crazy, and it is my difference!

Let’s take a look in some of my greatest turistic time around Chicago, a artist, music, and underground place!

The Buckingham Fountain is in one of the most beuatiful park of Chicago. A large green area with a great view to Michigan lake, and portliness sculture. This was the second place visited for me and my friends. In this place, Fernanda slept deeply after a long night traveling by bus. We had spent a lot of money in our last travel to New York, and brokes we decided to take a bus. To go by bus was one of my badest experiences here in US. The travel is tragic. It take to much time, and a lot of stops before our destination. But, after this time we had a great time. For sure when Fernanda woke up of her dreams in pretty Chicago Park, she was able to begins our best travel around US.

However, the best park in Chicago for us is the Millennium Park. Wow… That’s place!!! I found this Park before my friends because while Fernanda and mark took a nap I was walking around. I came there and saw the “Cloud Gate” a huge mirror in the Park by the celebrated British artist Anish Kapoor. In that sculture I had a greatest moment listening a song from a important singer from Bahia (my musical state). I began to be affected for that context: a song that celebrate São Paulo, a cosmopolitan city as Chicago, in Brazil, my favorite city. Actually I have tickets flys bought in Brazil to fly to São paulo next year. Ah, São Paulo!!!!

In the same Park there is two bib towers displaying people from different races while keep a water camp to people play full of water. It si also a great place to visit and make children friends. I played in that water camp with Mark my travel partner and the two boys in the picture. It was perfect in that warm morning. After that we were walking around downtown and we found another park where was heppened a fantastic Jazz Festival. Good muic while the American life runs on.

Other great time was our visit to Modern Art Museum. There, I could see some of my favorite artists as Matisse, Rodin, Picasso and Dali. We were there in one free weekly day, so common in Brazil to permit averyone has acces to culture. More places around US could play attention in this chicago exemple. Culture, information, and all kinds of knowledge should be more available for people. Unfortunately, I had seen culture as a way to make money in US, without, at least, one free day reservated for people have free access to artist an cultural places.

How we are in the capitalism paradise, in chicago, as in other places visited for us, we were shopping in the “Chicado 5th avenue”. Of course our financial situatin in that time just permited us to shop in sale stores. Fortunately, Levi’s, one of my favorits brands was in sale. So, one more reason to enjoy Chicago! ;-)

After a long time shopping we needed a break! And a break is always a motivation for a picture when we are revested with turist license.

Of course we took a while to enjoy some hookah, our favorite enterteniment in Nashville a small and quiet city!! I am so sorry Nahville lovers, but I prefer the noise and movimentation peculiar to crowded cities. We had gone several times to Tarboosh, in Nashville, the place where we tried hookah and where we lerned to enjoy a good Arabic smoke! I and Fernanda will miss so much Hookah and Tarboosh when we go back to Brazil, for sure.

I could extend this post for many, many pages, but I don’t want to boring my dear professor and my audience with my Chicago time, and my crazy toughts. I will stop here and announce my next post about my trip to San Francisco.

Thank a lot for your attention, good night and good luck.

Muri,

Sounds like a great trip! I haven’t been to Chicago in a long time. Whenever we go, we always make a trip to Chinatown for the dim sum. So delicious! Next time, ask me and I’ll let you know where the restaurant is…
